When I shop I love to support local artists and designers. Most cities have street fairs several times a year to buy local wares. Shopping at the holiday fairs is fun and social because it is like going to a festival rather than a shopping mall! And you get unique, often one-of-a-kind items while supporting local businesses and craftspeople.
